Getting started
What is Samsung Wallet Perks?
Samsung Wallet Perks is the rewards tab within Samsung Wallet that lets you earn Cash Back at nearby stores and restaurants when you pay with a linked card. You can also earn Cash Back on online purchases directly in Perks.
How does it work?
- Connect a Rakuten account. Create or connect a Rakuten account during Samsung Wallet Perks setup. You only need to do this once. If you already have a Rakuten account, enter your Rakuten email address.
- Link a card. Link a card to Rakuten to start earning Cash Back at nearby stores and restaurants. Once linked, all dining offers are added automatically. Add in-store offers individually.
- Shop or dine. Shop or dine at participating restaurants and pay with your linked card. For online shopping, start in the Perks tab and tap a store to activate Cash Back. Then pay with any card.
- Earn Cash Back. Cash Back will be added to your Rakuten balance.
Do I need a Rakuten account?
Yes, you need a Rakuten account so we can give you Cash Back. You can create a free Rakuten account or connect an existing account during Samsung Wallet Perks setup.
How do I connect my Rakuten account to Samsung Wallet Perks?
Open Samsung Wallet and follow the prompts to connect your Rakuten account. You'll verify your account with a one-time code sent to your email.
What if my Samsung and Rakuten account emails are different?
Use the email associated with your Rakuten account to connect Rakuten to Samsung Wallet Perks.
What happened to the Cash Back I earned in the previous Samsung Wallet Perks experience?
Your Cash Back is still available. Any Cash Back earned before connecting Rakuten to Perks is kept separate from Cash Back you earn going forward.
To access it, open Samsung Wallet and go to the Perks tab. Tap the three-dot menu, then Cash Back activity. On Cash Back activity, tap View previous Perks Cash Back.
Card linking
What is card linking?
Card linking lets you connect your eligible credit or debit card to your Rakuten account so you can earn Cash Back automatically when you use that card at participating in-store or dining locations.
Which cards can I link?
You can link most Visa credit and debit cards, Mastercard credit and debit cards and American Express cards.
At this time, these cards are ineligible:
- Wells Fargo Mastercards
- American Express debit cards
- Virtual cards that use a different number for each transaction (for example, Apple Card)
- Macy's American Express cards
- Corporate and purchasing cards
- Health Savings Account (HSA) cards
- Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards
- Government-administered prepaid cards (including EBT)
- Insurance prepaid cards
- Visa Buxx
- Diners Club and Discover cards
What happens after I link my card?
Once your card is linked, all dining offers will be added to your card automatically. Add in-store offers before you shop to earn Cash Back. Then, just pay with your linked card and earn.
Can I link a debit card?
Yes. However, you must run your debit card as credit (and sign, if prompted) to earn Cash Back. Debit transactions processed using a PIN may not qualify.
Is linking a card to Rakuten the same as adding it to Samsung Wallet?
No. Linking a card to Rakuten activates in-store and dining Cash Back for that card and requires entering your card number again for security. Adding a card to Samsung Wallet is a separate step that lets you pay with it in stores. You can link any card that's eligible, whether or not it's already in your Wallet, and linking never charges your card.
Can I use other dining rewards programs with my linked card?
Your linked card should not be enrolled in other dining rewards programs. If you link a card to another dining program, your card will be unlinked from all dining offers in Perks. To avoid this, use a separate card for other dining rewards.
How do I manage my cards linked to Rakuten?
From Perks, go to Nearby offers. Then tap the three-dot menu and select Linked cards to see all cards linked to Rakuten for in-store and dining Cash Back. From there, you can link another card or unlink an existing one.
Is it safe to link my card?
Yes. Protecting your information is a top priority.
- Your card details are stored in a secure, encrypted environment

How do I earn Cash Back online?

What stores are eligible for Cash Back?

Do I need to keep my receipt?
You should keep your receipt, just in case there’s an issue with your purchase. Rakuten Member Services will use the information on your receipt to verify your Cash Back.
You don’t need to upload a receipt to earn Cash Back.
Can I earn Cash Back on in-store purchases?
Yes. Link a card to Rakuten, then add in-store offers individually in the Nearby Cash Back section of Samsung Wallet Perks. Pay with your linked card at checkout to earn.
Using a debit card? You must run your debit card as credit (and sign, if prompted) to earn Cash Back. Debit transactions processed as PIN may not qualify.
Most in-store offers expire in 75 days, or after the offer has been used. Be sure to check the offer details when adding an offer. You must re-add after they expire, or after making a purchase, to continue earning in-store Cash Back.
Can I earn Cash Back at restaurants?
Yes. Once you link a card to Rakuten, all available dining offers are automatically added. Dine at a participating restaurant and pay with your linked card to earn.
Does Cash Back apply to the full purchase amount?
Cash Back is calculated on the qualifying purchase subtotal, excluding taxes, shipping and fees. Some stores have exclusions, so be sure to check the details by tapping on a store logo.
What is a Cash Back boost?
A boost gives you extra Cash Back for a limited time. Earn up to an extra $50 with your boost. Terms apply.
Redeeming Cash Back
What is a Samsung Cash Card?
To redeem your Cash Back, you'll need a Samsung Cash Card, a digital card you can set up in Samsung Wallet. Use your Samsung Cash Card anywhere Samsung Pay is accepted.
How do I get a Samsung Cash Card?
If you don't have a Samsung Cash Card, you'll be prompted to get one in Samsung Wallet.
How do I redeem my Cash Back?
To redeem, go to Perks and tap the three-dot menu. Go to Cash Back activity, then select Redeem now.
When can I redeem my Cash Back?
Once you have a Samsung Cash Card, you can transfer your available Cash Back to it anytime, or have it sent automatically every three months.
- Redeem anytime: Once you have $5 or more available, you can transfer it to your Samsung Cash Card whenever you'd like.
- Automatic payouts: Your Cash Back will be automatically transferred to your Samsung Cash Card every 3 months, as long as your available balance is $5 or more.
Can I update my Rakuten payout method to something else?
To earn Cash Back with Samsung Wallet Perks, you must select Samsung Cash as your Rakuten payout method. If you switch to a different payout method, you won’t be able to continue earning with Samsung Wallet Perks until you switch back.
What does pending Cash Back mean?
After your order details are sent, your Cash Back is pending in case of returns, exchanges, exclusions, or other changes to your purchase. Transactions typically appear in Cash Back activity within 24 hours of your purchase.
Here’s when you can expect your Cash Back to be confirmed.
Online and in-store: Within 3–14 weeks after your purchase
Dining: Within 3–5 days after you dine
Travel: Within 6–17 weeks after your trip is complete. If you earned at Expedia, Cash Back will be confirmed within one week after completing your trip.
How long does it take for my Cash Back to be available?
Online and In-Store Cash Back: It typically takes 3–14 weeks for pending Cash Back to be added to your available balance. This waiting period exists in case of returns, exchanges, exclusions or other changes to your order.
Dining Cash Back: Within 3–5 days after you dine.
Travel Cash Back: Cash Back on travel is typically available within 6–17 weeks after your trip is complete. If you earned at Expedia, Cash Back will be available within one week after completing your trip.
Bonuses: Bonuses usually depend on an order and will be available at the same time as the Cash Back.
What does ineligible mean?
Ineligible means this purchase isn’t eligible for Cash Back. This can happen for a few reasons, like returns, exclusions or using coupons not found on Rakuten.
Why can't I redeem my Cash Back?
A few things can affect redemption:
- Available balance below $5: You need $5 or more to redeem your Cash Back or receive an automatic payout.
- Balance exceeds the limit for your Samsung Cash Card: Go to Cash Back activity and apply for a Samsung Cash Mastercard Prepaid Card to redeem.

Missing Cash Back
I’m missing Cash Back. What should I do?
First, check that at least 24 hours have passed since your purchase, since transactions can take some time to appear in your account.
If you didn’t earn Cash Back and you think you should have, let us know and we'll look into it.
What information do I need to submit a Missing Cash Back request?
You’ll need the store or restaurant name, purchase date, and purchase amount. For online purchases, you’ll need your order confirmation email.
Why might my Cash Back be ineligible?
Cash Back may not track, or may be marked ineligible, if:
- You didn't tap through from Samsung Wallet Perks before purchasing (for online purchases)
- The purchase was made on a different device or browser session
- The store's offer had expired at the time of purchase
- The purchase was returned or cancelled
Managing your Samsung-Rakuten account in Perks
Can I disconnect my Rakuten account from Perks?
Yes. To disconnect your Rakuten account, go to Cash Back activity. Then tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and select Disconnect Rakuten account.
Keep in mind that disconnecting will pause your access to Samsung Wallet Perks. To start earning Cash Back again, you'll need to reconnect your Rakuten account and relink your cards.
What happens if I change my Rakuten payout method outside of Samsung Wallet?
If you update your payout method directly in the Rakuten app or on the Rakuten website, you'll need to update it back to Samsung Cash to keep earning Cash Back through Samsung Wallet Perks.
Are Perks offers available outside the US?
No. Perks offers are only available in the United States.
