The application requires certain information to verify your identity and determine creditworthiness:
- Full legal name
- Date of birth
- Home address (no P.O. boxes)
- Income and housing information
- Phone number
- Last 4 digits of your SSN (or full SSN if required)
- Email address
Your information will be encrypted and secured when submitted to Imprint, the credit card issuer and financial services company that powers the Rakuten Card.
After you complete the card application, you may receive a credit offer. Your credit score will not be impacted unless you accept the credit offer. By accepting the credit offer for the Rakuten Card, you agree to the Cardholder Agreement.

Do I need to unfreeze my credit reports before applying for the Rakuten Card?
Yes, you need to have your TransUnion credit report unfrozen before applying for the Rakuten Card. To unfreeze, log in to your TransUnion account or call TransUnion at 1-800-916-8800. Your credit report should be unfrozen within one hour.
If I’m pre-approved for the Rakuten Card, does that mean I will be automatically approved any time I decide to apply?
No, Imprint will determine if you’re approved when you submit your application.
Can I apply for the Rakuten Card from any device?
Yes, you can apply using your phone, tablet or computer. For the smoothest experience, use a personal device with a standard home or mobile internet connection.
Avoid using a VPN when applying for the Rakuten Card. VPNs can mask your location, which may trigger security flags or identity verification issues. This could result in delays, additional review, or in some cases, a declined application.
