Cash Back Activation Alerts FAQ

What are Cash Back Activation Alerts?

Cash Back Activation Alerts are Android notifications that remind you to activate Cash Back when you're shopping on Chrome. This way, you'll never forget to cash in on Cash Back when you're shopping.

Why should I turn them on?

Cash Back Activation Alerts make earning Cash Back as simple as possible. You won't have to start with Rakuten.com or our app. Instead, just shop your favorite brands in Chrome and activate Cash Back through a notification.

How do the alerts work?

Starting shopping in Chrome and we'll send you a notification to activate Cash Back. Just select Activate and you're on your way to earning Cash Back! When you finish your purchase we'll bring you back to the Rakuten app.

Why do I need to give "full control" of my device?

Really, you don't (and we don't)! It's a technical thing. Android requires Rakuten to use this level of permission, but Rakuten will never view or control your screen. We also won't view or perform actions on your device.

So why are we asking you for this permission? The behind the scenes magic that makes this alert possible uses your browsing history. That's how we know if you're shopping at a store that offers Cash Back.
